This is a real shame but we’re planning to go monthly with the party and alternate with a venue where we can go late once more. - Artefact is not yet a wheelchair accessible venue.
- Taxis can pull up close to the venue on Hazelwell road.
- Bournville train station is around 480 meters away.
- The 45 / 47 bus stop is around 90 meters away.
- Please don’t attend if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. Take a lateral flow test before attending if you can. It is vital we try and protect each other in solidarity with those that are vulnerable to COVID-19.
- There will be loud music (around 95db SPL, though some peaks may be slightly higher). We will attempt to keep sounds in safe hearing limits. Free ear plugs will be available.
- The dancefloor will be low lit, we will not be using flashing lights or lasers.
- There will be a quieter chill out space in the front of the cafe and a seating area outside if you need a break.
- There is a single stall gender neutral toilet with a mirror.
- There’s a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic (including tea and coffee!) drinks and snacks. Tap water will always be free.
- The space is quite narrow, especially the corridor that slopes downward from the cafe to the dancefloor.

DJ Mystic Meg is a multidisciplinary sound artist hailing from Birmingham. She shares her love of music through well curated sets, intentional mixes and smooth transitions.

As a multi genre DJ, Mystic Meg is inspired by sounds that fuse and cross genres. As a Black woman and a member of the Selextorhood community, Mystic Meg is passionate about ensuring that womxn, non binary + gender non conforming folx are able to take up space in an industry that is often male dominated.

Scrapes (Energy Flow) – He/They

Scrapes is a relatively new DJ to the Birmingham scene, having moved from Wales to live with partner and fellow DJ Japes during lockdown. Popping up regularly at Hare and Hounds in Birmingham, Scrapes is known for their eclectic mix of weird and outsider tunes from a wide swathe of genres, but mostly filtered through the lens of jazz, psychedelia, breakbeat and leftfield electronic music. Also a graphic designer, they can often be found toiling in their goblin cave, guzzling coffee and loudly annoying the neighbours with weird records whilst drawing up posters for music events.

Dee’Cleo’s musical ear is finely tuned to appreciate and mirror sounds, melodies and beats, influenced from an array of eras, cultures and genres. Dee’Cleo loves the vibration from Worldwide FM DJs, this reflects in her underground collection from all over the globe.

Emerging onto the scene back in 2015, playing at local gigs in her hometown Birmingham, she has since been building on her repertoire. Supporting the likes of Oscar Jerome, Yabba funk, Moses Boyd and Eclair Fifi with Selextorhood and Leftfoot events.

sexy roy is a DJ and experimental producer from Birmingham UK. Part of the Selextorhood community they play music for bopping, out and about, and sometimes a bit further afield. Aka artist/researcher emily warner who makes collaborative work with sound, movement and performance, and loves anything that involves a sonic mingle. An interest in sound culture, social space and deep listening sits at the heart of their practice, which calls for softer-spaces and alternative club environments for those who might not ordinarily be present in these contexts.
